We have a really strange situation for which no one seems to be able to find an answer. The cube is a smallish cube on SQL2005 SP4 SSAS. All the PC where we try to connect to the Cube are Windows 7 Professional with Excel 2010. All users have the same connection file setup.
However on the LAN i get response within 2 seconds, On the WAN, my Manager is getting response times of 5 seconds from about 2000 kilmeters away. The isseu we have is another user on the LAN, Same setup, same operating system and connection file, it takes 3 minutes to open the Cube through Excel.
The server is only 1 hop away and pings under 1ms. They are on another Domain, but I logged on in their domain and had no issues, note I did not log on to their domain. There is a full trust relationship between the domains. We have tried everything we can think of, disabling antivirus, changing IP address from DHCP to static, tried disabling various other applications on the PC. We aso setup a PC on the same domain as the server and this PC is now experiencing the same issue.
There is another issue, the server is really old and has a lot of issues, and I am trying to addrss that, what I can't understand though is why some PC's can always connect easilty and other not. What I did not say previously is we are all using the same user account in the connection file.
Any ideas would really help, other than the obvious - get another server.
