Error modifying a used cube dimension - SSAS 2012

We've encountered an error in a very specific situation while developing an SSAS cube, hopefully you have some ideas as to where to look because we've tried some workarounds and they don't seem to be able to work; also searching the web didn't help that much. So here it is:

  • We created a cube in SSAS 2012 (SQL Server 2012 Instance).
  • Added 1 fact table and two (very small) dimensions.
  • Neither of the dimensions has any hierarchies whatsoever.
  • Link the cube to the dimensions and process... Up until this point, everything works fine.
  • I open the cube in Visual Studio 2010.
  • Open one of the dimensions (that is used in the cube) and add a hierarchy (one field).
  • When I try to save, it notifies me that the cube will also be saved and then I get the following error:

TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio
------------------------------

Dimension [Company] cannot be saved because of the following errors:
File system error: The following error occurred while the '\\?\C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS11.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Data\TestingDynamicDimensionChange.0.db\Company.3.dim\6.Company Code.Company Code.dstore' file was being copied to the '\\?\C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS11.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Data\TestingDynamicDimensionChange.0.db\Company.3.dim\6.Company Code.Company Code.dstore' file:  The file exists. .
Server: The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed.

------------------------------

I have no idea where it gets that path from, so I don't know how to troubleshoot this.

This is just a test scenario that replicates this error, which we found on a production server.

This cube is being deployed locally on my laptop with the following configuration:

Win7 64 bit

Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP1) - 11.0.3128.0 (X64) Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)

SSAS Version 11.0.3000.0

Any thoughts? I can provide more information if needed.

Thanks in advance.
