Create New Tabular Project from Existing Tabular Database

Is it possible to create a new SSDT BI project from an existing SSAS Tabular database?  MSDN documentation makes it sound possible, but GUI menu structures referenced don't appear correct.  Also, I found an old pre-release thread saying it was a design decision to not allow this.  Which is correct?

The reason I want to go this route is that I dynamically created our partitioning strategy using SSIS and XMLA and it will be rather painful to manually do this through the designer.

I'm using version 10.3.21208.0 of SSDT which I believe is the December 2012 release.
