Hi,
I am quite a newbee in SSAS world, a quick question with relate to cube browsing within Excel service, could anyone provide your thoughts/ideas? Many thanks.
I worked for an insurance company, the environment is as follows:
SQL Server 2008
Microsoft Visual Studio (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
Excel 2010
Power Pivot
SharePoint 2010
Visio 2013
The company contain around 300 staffa, recently my team deployed a SSAS cube for the staff. Sharepoint Dashboards are built to browser the cube. But due to the budget control, we only purchased 50 licenses for Share point. Therefore only the managers, team leaders and the developers can be able to use share point. For allowing other staffs to browser the cube, I also created an excel file with importing the cube from SSAS and build some pivot tables/charts there. This excel file will be located in the share drive and being set as read only for the staff. Then more than 150 staff will access this excel file every day. Also I would need to manually refresh the data in excel everyday. I wonder whether it is the best strategy for this case? Would that be any potential issues? Many thanks.
Regards
Stephen
