Hello,
I installed the following from scratch, in the order specified:
- SQL Server 2017 Express
- SQL Server Reporting Services
- SQL Server Management Studio 17
- Visual Studio 2017 Express (together with Data storage and processingworkload)
At this point there was still no SQL Analysis Services neither in the services list nor in SQL Server Services list, so I t ried downloading and installingSSDT for Visual Studio 2017 (15.7.1) (marking all available components to be installed) but the issue persists.
Trying to connect to Analysis Services in SSMS with Server name: (local) fails with the following message:
TITLE: Connect to Server

Cannot connect to (local).
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running. (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AppLocal.AdomdClient)
------------------------------
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:2383 (System)
Another thing: I downloaded the installation media (SQLEXPRADV_x64_ENU), extracted it and ran Setup (Installation Wizard) and then "New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation" hoping I will see Analysis
Services in the list under "Feature Selection". As you can guess, there was no such thing in the list!
